The Necessity of Grace

This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. – Rom 1:17 (NLTse).

“Grace” is more than an enablement to do something better or easier. Grace did not come to make it easier for us to live holy, be righteous, or to make Heaven. The Bible expressly states that without Grace, we’re nothing. Grace is not a ladder to Heaven. A ladder is useless to a dead man; and Eph 2:5,6 states that before Christ came we were dead in our sins.

Grace is not a luxury for “immature” Christians or a crutch for “weak” ones. We did not get saved by Grace only to be left to live the Christian life on our own efforts and works. Many Christians still hold the impression that God’s forgiveness was only at the point of salvation. When they answered that altar call, God forgave all the sins they had committed in the past; then afterwards demands that they walk uprightly, or else they would not be saved or raptured.

If God were to look to our works to save us, no one (not "few", but no one) will get to Heaven! As a matter of fact, conscientious votaries of religions like Jainism, Buddhism, and even some Muslims would get to heaven before some of us. But Heaven is not for good or moral people; Heaven is for perfect people: perfect by God’s holy standards. That’s why Gal 2:16 states that, “A man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ,”
It’s the same Grace that saves us that qualifies us for Heaven. Rev 7:14 tells us that even those who were saved after the Tribulation were those who have “washed their robes, and made them white IN THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB.” (Rev 7:14).

This is a vital truth we must appreciate. There is never a time we get to toss grace aside. Grace is our vital and only connection to God. We are saved by grace and by grace we stand (Rom 5:2; Eph 2:5,8; 1Pe 5:12).

AMEN.
More Blessings await you today; you’ll not miss them in Jesus’ Name.
